When I picked up my first brush in December 2016, I could never have imagined it would mark the beginning of a colorful journey—one that would lead me not only into the world of art but also into video creation. What started as a simple way to track my progress quickly grew into a passion for documenting my creative process.
Why Did I Start Making Videos?
Honestly? It started as a tool to improve myself. By recording my painting process, I could look back, learn, and refine my technique. But soon, I realized I enjoyed it more than I expected. It wasn’t just practical; it became a way to share my enthusiasm and love for painting with the world.
From simple time-lapse videos to capturing the varnishing and careful packaging of my artwork—my camera became just as important as my brushes. And yes, live painting sessions in front of the camera became a thing too!
The Highlight: We’ve Opened Our Eyes
In 2022, I embarked on my project We’ve Opened Our Eyes. This brought everything together: painting, storytelling, and music. Each painted eye told a story, and with carefully selected music and videos, I was able to share that story. You could watch a painting come to life and see it lovingly packaged. These videos became an emotional journey, not just for me, but for my viewers as well.
And Now? A Bit of a Void...
With the conclusion of We’ve Opened Our Eyes, I must admit I miss making videos. It felt like I wasn’t just creating paintings but also building connections. But who knows? Maybe this is the start of a new creative twist!
What Would You Like to See?
And this is where you come in! What kind of videos would you like to see? Think tutorials, behind-the-scenes glimpses, new projects, or perhaps something completely different. Let me know! Who knows, I might bring your idea to life soon (with a big smile and a brush in hand).
With love and creativity,
Debbie ❤️
