Braindead

Sometimes the best things come to life exactly the way they’re meant to. That’s exactly how it went with the painting Braindead, part of my Magical Brainwaves series. And trust me, that name wasn’t chosen lightly.
With this series, I usually start with a vague idea of what I want to put on the canvas. The rest just happens… spontaneously. It really feels like a magical brainwave suddenly pops into my head, and then it has to be painted. As if the artwork itself decides what needs to appear.
For Braindead, I wanted to try something completely different. Something with horror. A bit spooky, with an old house as the main character. That house was the first thing I painted, and from there, everything just flowed. Idea after idea came rushing in and found its place on the canvas, as if it already knew what it wanted to become.
And here’s the fun part: this painting has two faces. During the day, it looks like a seemingly calm scene. But as soon as the sun goes down and you turn on a UV lamp… BAM. It comes to life. A story appears. I have no idea what story – I’ll leave that up to you. But it’s guaranteed to spark conversation when friends come over. Their reactions are priceless.
The canvas measures 100x80 cm and is ready to enrich someone’s wall and imagination.
What do you see happening in Braindead’s story?
Let your imagination run wild. And who knows… maybe you’ll want to experience this unique work for yourself every single day.
With love and creativity,
Debbie ❤️
